OK Now you can see who is voting against solar or conveniently not showing up.
The Yeas, The Nays, and the No-shows Many Solar Citizens have asked us how their senators voted in the most recent attempt to extend solar tax credits beyond the end of this year. The bill in question was S3335, and on July 30th it went the way of its many earlier brethren, with enough Republican senators refusing to vote for cloture (the cutting-off of debate prior to voting) to doom it. We've been asked to record these votes before, but not on such a scale, which makes us think that the Congressional game-playing is finally getting to everyone. So check the tables below to follow your favorite senator's scoring record. Meanwhile, we understand that Representative Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) and a slew of his colleagues from both sides of the House are working on introducing what can only be described as a compromise bill in September or October. HR6709 will: - extend clean energy tax credits for 5 years
- release some of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and dedicate income from the Reserve to renewable
- energy R & D
- repeal moratoria on offshore drilling and dedicate some of the resultant tax income to offsetting the tax credits
So we all win a little, lose a little, hold our noses and vote. Always assuming no-one wants to go out with a filibustering bang in November... As for S3335, the final score was 51 yeas, 43 nays, and 6 not voting, and here they all are: Alphabetical by Senator Name Akaka (D-HI), Yea Alexander (R-TN), Nay Allard (R-CO), Nay Barrasso (R-WY), Nay Baucus (D-MT), Yea Bayh (D-IN), Yea Bennett (R-UT), Nay Biden (D-DE), Yea Bingaman (D-NM), Yea Bond (R-MO), Nay Boxer (D-CA), Yea Brown (D-OH), Yea Brownback (R-KS), Nay Bunning (R-KY), Nay Burr (R-NC), Nay Byrd (D-WV), Yea Cantwell (D-WA), Yea Cardin (D-MD), Yea Carper (D-DE), Yea Casey (D-PA), Yea Chambliss (R-GA), Nay Clinton (D-NY), Yea Coburn (R-OK), Nay Cochran (R-MS), Nay Coleman (R-MN), Yea Collins (R-ME), Yea Conrad (D-ND), Yea Corker (R-TN), Nay Cornyn (R-TX), Nay Craig (R-ID), Nay Crapo (R-ID), Nay DeMint (R-SC), Nay Dodd (D-CT), Yea Dole (R-NC), Yea
